The daughter of veteran actor John Mills, Hayley Mills starred in several films for Disney in the 1960s, and was the top box-office star for 1961. The first of which was Pollyanna (1960) for which she received a special Oscar. She completed a total of six films for the Disney company, including the original version of The Parent Trap.

Apart from quietly overcoming an eating disorder during her youth and a few doomed marriages, she has managed to avoid any public breakdowns or scandals. As an adult, she enjoyed success in the theatre as well as playing the title character in Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which was later retooled into Saved By The Bell.

From 2007-2012, she held a leading role in ITV drama series Wild at Heart. In recent years, she has beaten breast cancer and continues to work occasionally, most recently off-Broadway play Party Face in 2018. In an interview on Good Morning Britain last year, she cited still attending boarding school in England during her Disney years as a possible reason for her successful transition into adulthood.
