9 Divisive Movies That Should've Been TV Shows

7. Robocop

Once Upon A Time On Netflix
Sony Pictures

Most people can agree that the 2014 Robocop reboot was not a good movie. And that's quite often the case with reboots of beloved franchises. The truth of the matter is, Robocop was a perfect property for rebooting because the original movies were not good.

Yes, Robocop is an enduring character and there's a lot of affection for the those old movies, but, chances are, if you didn't grow up with them you don't see the big deal. So a reboot made sense but it was done rather terribly, thus killing the franchise for the foreseeable future.

The next obvious step for Robocop is television. Clearly it's a hard concept to sell and get right in a short format, so move it to television. Start slow, with an episode or two about Alex Murphy the man, make us care about him, then change his life drastically as he's almost killed and turned into Robocop.

A Robocop series could finally see the concept fulfil its potential, and there's plenty of room for changing plot elements and introducing new characters. Just take a page out of the Frank Miller comics for some inspiration and go from there.
