9 Divisive Movies That Should've Been TV Shows

6. Bright

Once Upon A Time On Netflix
Netflix

Bright was a super interesting concept that Netflix promoted hard for about a month, then disappeared off the face of the earth. There are multiple reasons for the film's vanishing, whether it was the lacklustre reviews or writer Max Landis' public outing as an alleged sexual harasser. Regardless, the movie itself felt like a missed opportunity.

With incredible star power in the form of Will Smith and Joel Edgerton, and a fascinating set-up in which humans and fairy-tale creatures like in the same, gritty world, Bright seemed like a sure-fire hit. However the movie did a poor job of really exploring that world and left us wanting more. As such, it's odd that Netflix didn't just adapt it as a series across 6-12 episodes.

Such a run would have allowed us to learn more about the history between humans and orcs, allow for Ward and Jakoby's characters to develop more naturally, and provide a much more interesting main plot.

A series is totally out of the question as a sequel is in active development, so hopefully it does a better job of establishing the characters and showing us that unique world.
