9 Extremely Specific Tics You Never Noticed In Famous Actors

7. Kiefer Sutherland's Hand Wringing

It was in 24 that Kiefer really developed his strange habit, where Jack Bauer will walk in and listen to some babbling exposition, and then he’ll start absent-mindedly wringing his hands. If he’s sitting down while doing this it’s during a more relaxed, emotional scene, but if he’s standing up he means business; it most likely means some poor dude is about to get tortured.

Since Kiefer had to shoot endless scenes where’s standing around listening he probably developed this habit to give Jack some inner life or appear contemplative, but after two hundred odd episodes this quirk started to seep into his others roles too – like Mirrors and Melancholia – and even into some interviews.

During 24 he also came up with Jack’s famous breathless delivery, where he’ll say something at twice the speed; this line delivery would also make its way into movies like The Sentinel.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
