9 Famous Film Directors Who Have Lost Their Touch (That We All Pretend Are Still Awesome)

3. Robert Rodriguez

What the heck happened to Robert Rodriguez? The man behind such classic, badass movies as El Mariachi, Desperado, and From Dusk Till Dawn constantly churns out more family-friendly crap than audiences can wrap their heads around. Spy Kids was a fun movie, but he followed that up with Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl (a movie that was literally written by his young children), Shorts, Machete, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D, and Machete Kills. Phew! Every now and again he'll throw in something that reminds us of his true talents, like Planet Terror, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, or Sin City; but his filmography is so muddied with garbage that it's nearly impossible to forgive him. The man prides himself in being a one-man film crew (and even wrote a book about it), but sometimes you shouldn't do everything yourself.
