9 Harsh Truths DC Need To Face About Their Upcoming Movies
5. 2017 Is Way Too Soon For A Justice League Film
The reason that The Avengers was such a success, both creatively and financially, stemmed from the fact that Marvel didn't jump the gun. They waited patiently to build their world, slowly introducing the important characters one by one, before finally giving audiences the movie they'd been waiting for - at a point of total and utter fever pitch. There's no such sense of patience as far as DC's equivalent is concerned: the Justice League movie, set for release in 2017, is roughly two years too early. No way should said film come before a solo Batman movie (then again: Batman v Superman should never have come before a solo Batman movie, but there you go). At this stage, a Justice League film doesn't seem all that exciting because there's no context for it: it has been presented to audiences far too early in the game, at a time when they're struggling to get excited for even a Batman v Superman picture. DC should have committed to delivering all the solo pictures before the release of the Justice League; now the harsh truth of the matter is that nobody will care about the characters when the picture lands.
