9 Harsh Truths DC Need To Face About Their Upcoming Movies
3. Nobody Cares About Cyborg
As a character, Cyborg has a following, sure, but not a particularly huge or noticeable one. He's not a particularly well-known character outside of comic book circles, and doesn't even have the name recognition of low-rent superheroes like Aquaman. People might not like Aquaman, after all, but they at least know who he is - or are familiar with the name. Which means that, truth be told, the general population don't care about Cyborg and aren't all that inclined to want to, either. That's just the way it is. That might sound a little harsh, but it's true: getting the general public to like a superhero they've never heard of is rarely achieved, and it's the reason why so many superhero movies just don't get made. There's too much of a risk involved. DC want to give their universe as much scope as Marvel's universe, of course, so characters like Cyborg are bound to be brought into the fray. The biggest problem is trying to make people care. Regardless of whether or not Cyborg is a great character or an interesting hero, then, the ultimate truth of the situation is that nobody is bothered. Which must be unnerving for DC.
