9 Harsh Truths DC Need To Face About Their Upcoming Movies
2. DC Are Late To The Party (Whilst Marvel Are Well Into Their Prime)
There's no denying the fact that DC are well and truly behind as far as the superhero movie race is concerned. The studio only recently decided that a Cinematic Universe might be the way to go, unveiled a rushed agenda covering the next decade or so, said that Man of Steel was the first entry (though it wasn't supposed to be) and that was it: full steam ahead. Marvel on the other hand, are leading proceedings, and are currently in what is arguably their Golden Period; their absolute prime, if you will. What movie-goers have, then, is a window into an insanely successful franchise and another widow into one that is awkwardly attempting to follow suit. The problem with all this ultimately, however, is that DC are far too late to the party. Marvel has had so much time to win over its fanbase, having been established for eight years, and so DC just look to be walking in the studio's footsteps, struggling to catch-up by way of lame imitation. That doesn't mean that DC won't be able to establish itself a proper Cinematic Universe - just that it's going to be a lot harder to win people over because they're so behind. Being slow to the uptake has given Warner Bros. and DC a lot to contend with, unfortunately.
