9 Horror Movie Franchises That Literally Do The Same Thing Repeatedly

4. Friday The 13th - Barnyard Finales, Electric Ressurrections And Dream Endings

One of the most infamous slasher franchises in all of horror history, Friday the 13th burst onto the scene in 1980 as a self proclaimed shameless ripoff of the cheap slasher formula made famous by John Carpenter's Halloween less than two years before.

And it proved to be a winning move, with the original Friday the 13th becoming a huge hit. The whodunnit mystery of the first film wouldn't really return in any of the other releases, however there were plenty of other plot devices and themes the writers would use as crutches throughout the franchise's runtime.

Both Friday the 13th parts 3 and 5 finish up in a large barnyard, parts 1 and 3 feature dream sequences of both Jason and Pamela Voorhees once the film's final girls make it out onto Crystal Lake on a small rowboat, and the masked killer is brought back to life via electric shocks twice across the series in parts 6 and 7.

Friday the 13th isn't chained to any real world restraints, taking Jason into space and turning him into an immortal zombie by part six, however it's amazing how similar the tropes and traits of each film can feel whenever someone sits down and makes their way through it.
