9 Horror Movie Heroes Killed By Their Own Vices

6. Richard Coberts - Body Bags

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Taryn
Coquette Entertainment

For Stacy Keach's Richard Coberts in the Hair short of John Carpenter's Body Bags anthology, all that he wants is to have luscious, full hair once again.

A middle-aged businessman who has become self-conscious about his hair - or lack thereof - Coberts opts to visit Dr. Lock (David Warner) in order to try out the doc's purported miracle solution to baldness. After trying Lock's serum, Richard wakes up the very next day to have the sort of mane that would make a lion jealous.

While this puts an initial spring in the step of Coberts - even helping his strained relationship with his girlfriend - things take a turn for the strange when, not only does the hair excessively grow all over his body, but these strands of hair are revealed to be tiny serpents.

The big reveal at the end of Hair is that Dr. Lock and his staff are all aliens who are looking to plant seeds of 'hair' into the bodies of narcissistic humans as part of a plan to take over the Earth. Far-fetched? Just a tad. Either way, this all ends in Richard Coberts taking his own life by jumping off a building - rather than live with the otherworldly hair he'd so craved.
