9 Horror Movie Plot Points Secretly Introduced Earlier Than You Realised

Before the movie kicks off with its main plot and characters, we first watch a short section introducing us to how the cuckoo raises its babies. The way the bird does this is not to just pop out the eggs then nurture them until the newborns can fly away, instead it drops its eggs into other birds nests.

Once there, the egg is cared for by unknowing foster parents. It hatches and the cuckoo grows much larger than the other eggs, throwing them out of the nest. It uses its adoptive mum to warm it, hatch it, feed it and keep it alive before it flies the nest, having killed all of the birds’ true babies.

We see this all before we meet our central couple, long before we could have any inkling that once they are trapped in that sinister housing estate, they will be given an alien child of their own.

Surprisingly a lot of people don’t really understand the cuckoo foreshadowing even after seeing the entire movie, but none of us could’ve predicted exactly what it meant right at the get-go.
