9 Implications Of Disney Potentially Buying Fox

5. Reboots Of Classic Movies

Not all of Fox's most profitable franchises are active right now, and if Disney was to snap up its assets, you can bet its top brass will rifle through the archive and float the idea of a revival or two.

A series like Home Alone would fit in with the Disney ethos. It's family-friendly, Christmassy and capable of raking in a boatload of box office bucks.

The first three movies brought in around $1 billion between them, and the original two are considered holiday classics. Two more sequels have followed, straight-to-DVD pieces of crap that have only cheapened the Home Alone brand.

Hypothetically speaking, if Disney was to have a stab at another cinematic instalment, a reboot that takes the concept back to its burglar-trapping roots would be the way to go. No doubt many would see this as a debasement of their childhoods, but if they brought Macaulay Culkin back in a parental capacity, it could have some value.

Home Alone isn't the only dormant Fox property that would interest Disney. A series like Cocoon could have the same universal appeal if repackaged right, the core concept used as the basis for a big-budget reboot or TV show.

Imagine the cast of Last Vegas - which includes Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Mary Steenburgen - heading up a big-screen reboot and being rejuvenated by the film's aliens. It would certainly have potential if original director Ron Howard was involved in some capacity.
