9 Improvements Needed For A Successful Assassin's Creed Sequel

8. Make Action Scenes More Immersive

The Problem

The action scenes in Assassin's Creed feature the biggest failure of the film but arguably also feature the film's most redeeming moments.

The failure surrounds the use of the Animus during the film's fight scenes. In a departure from the games, in which the Animus is nothing more than a medical table with a headset, the film utilises a large machine that allows Lynch to move in sync with his ancestor.

The filmmakers are clearly proud of this innovation and choose to show us it every chance they get. Unfortunately, this often meddles with any immersion the audience may acquire in the film's very good and often spectacular action scenes. We are frequently yanked out of exhilarating fights in 15th Century Spain to be shown Lynch being flung around by a giant arm, completely ruining the investment in the scene that the combat has built up.

The Solution

To put it plainly, this needs to be dumped in the sequel. The Animus mechanism itself isn't necessarily a bad idea and could be used in several visually interesting ways, however removing the audience from the past mid-scene is something that has to go.
