9 Improvements Needed For A Successful Assassin's Creed Sequel

5. Cut Down Modern Day Exposition

Assassin S Creed Past
Ubisoft

The Problem

The Assassin's Creed movie chooses to focus heavily on the present day, something completely at odds with its source material. The Assassin's Creed games have always used the modern day as a vehicle for mystery and intrigue, giving the player subtle hints as to what the bigger picture is, whilst the past provides the main content of the story.

The film chooses to use Callum Lynch's experience with the Animus as the focal point of the story and avoids any elements of wonder or suspicion, beyond some ever-so-slightly mysterious characters. Boring sequences of exposition frequently douse any mystery surrounding the Abstergo facility and its prisoners.

The Solution

A sequel should choose to embrace the Assassin's mantra 'work in the dark to serve the light' and feature Lynch uncovering more about the Assassins and the Templars.
