9 Incredible Pieces Of Concept Art From Cancelled Superhero Films
4. Early Bat Suits (Batman: Year One)
Before Christopher Nolan repaired Batman's reputation in Hollywood, Darren Aronofsky was gearing up to attempt to do just that, and the Black Swan filmmaker's vision would have reinvented the Dark Knight from the ground up.
Aronofsky was to adapt Frank Miller's influential graphic novel, Batman: Year One, but the end result would have been a far cry from what the world was expecting. His version of Bruce Wayne was homeless, rather than a billionaire, and Alfred made way for an African-American mechanic named Big Al.
Early concept artwork depicting the type of Bat Suit the Caped Crusader would have donned early into his crimefighting career was unearthed long after the project was shelved, and it looks like it would have been old-school.
In the end, Warner Bros decided the project was too subversive for its liking, so the studio pulled the plug and handed Batman over to Nolan, which turned out pretty well.
