9 Insane Characters You Won't Believe Almost Ended Up In Famous Movies

6. An Early Version Of Star Wars Featured A Palpatine-Like Character Called "Cos Dash*t" Whose Catchphrase Was "My Words!"

"Cos Dash*t." You do need anybody to tell you why that's funny or insane, do you? God knows why George Lucas wrote down a name that so very clearly contained a famous obscenity (it's not like that word wasn't used in the '70s or anything, was it?), and yet here it is. So Cos Dash*t was originally the Palpatine-esque character, before he ultimately became Palpatine. He appeared in Lucas' original 1974 script, which was titled "The Star Wars" (lose the "the" - it's cleaner), and though he shared many traits with Palpatine, he wasn't actually a Sith or anything. Apart from having a name that sounds like a phrase you hear in frat houses all over the world, Dash*t also liked to utter the sort of catchphrase "My words!", which was kind of like his way of letting everyone know that whatever he said was super important. George Lucas either eventually realised that he had gone temporarily nuts when his pen has scrawled the words "Dashit" on the page, then, and this guy was scrapped. This was back at the time when Luke Skywalker was very nearly called "Mace Windy," by the name. We're glad it was changed, Cos that name is Dash*t.
