The big Tinseltown success story of recent times has been Matthew McConaughey's ability to go from national joke to renowned actor, fan favourite and star of yet another meme mocking the fact that he's the latest performer to beat Leonardo DiCaprio to the Best Actor Oscar. His Oscar win for Dallas Buyers Club in 2014 cemented the fact that McConaughey was officially invited back to the Hollywood party, and, judging what he went through, the man undoubtedly earned his place. Shedding 47 pounds to play the AIDS-stricken Ron Woodroof, the impact on McConaughey's body didn't go unnoticed - not only did he lose those mahogany abs and the ability to run without his legs locking up, but the actor was faced with loss of vision as well. "As soon as I hit 143 lb, I started losing my eyesight", he admitted, which is distinctly not alright alright alright.
