9 Insanely Ambitious Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe

7. Will Smith Of 2019 Vs. Will Smith Of The 90s In Gemini Man

De-aging is nothing new in this terrifying world we call our own. 2019 alone has morphed Samuel L. Jackson back to his 90s self in Captain Marvel and we saw Carrie Fisher revitalised in Rogue One in 2016.

Why is Gemini Man anything to get excited about then?

Will Smith has been tasked with giving two performances here - one as the over-the-hill hitman, Henry Brogan, and another as a younger clone of himself. It's a titanic undertaking to forge a character that boasts the skill-set of an elite assassin and all the grim baggage that comes with years in that profession. Couple with that the nuance involved in recapturing the youth and perspective you had at a much younger age and you can see the size of the challenge Smith has been set.

The production had been in limbo since its early conception in 1997 with everyone from Harrison Ford to Sean Connery attached to the project as the lead role. However, the technology at the time wasn't up to the standard required to make the younger performance believable enough for an audience.

With Weta Digital (credits including The Lord of the Rings and Avatar) on board to master the visual effects, Ang Lee's Gemini Man now looks to have all the right ingredients to offer results off the back of their ambition.
