9 Insanely Ambitious Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe

1. Rod Serling Biopic That Might Become A Twilight Zone Episode

Gemini Man

Richard Kelly, of Donny Darko fame, hasn't made a feature since he adapted a short story called 'Button, Button' into The Box in 2009. It puzzled audiences and didn't exactly ramp up Kelly's stock.

Who was the last man to re-interpret the material?

Rod Serling, the chosen focus of Kelly's reported next project, did the very same in an episode of his brainchild, The Twilight Zone.

If rumours are to be believed, the project could start out as an interesting documentary-style feature before twisting it's way into an episode of the famous series about the show's creator.

That being the case, it's easy to see why Kelly has signed on to retake his place on the director's chair. Kelly excels in the unusual and loves to put his audience in positions that they do not find comfortable, asking questions of them and the material he throws on screen with the same disregard for the 'norm' as Serling did himself.

Mandalay Pictures may have just caught lightening in a bottle with this investment in the 'angry young man' of Hollywood. Here's just hoping that Richard Kelly's expedition into the Fifth Dimension will spark enough interest for him to stick around after the project is done.

Who knows, he may even be inspired enough to give us that long awaited Donny Darko sequel...
