9 Lame Opening Scenes In Otherwise Great Movies

Grease Opening
Paramount

Grease is a veritable classic of movies about teenagers who are clearly played by middle-aged people trying to have sex with each other but not in as graphic a way as the stage version. Specific, but it's a good niche to dominate.

Still, it opens weirdly, not only because the credits are so strange and distracting but because of what comes before them.

Having a cool or creative credit sequence is a norm in Hollywood. Heck, even having a cartoon sequence in the beginning, ala Pink Panther, isn't that odd. What is odd is having an entire scene of the main character putting gel in his cartoon hair, getting ready for school, and then cutting immediately to live-action.

And even before that, we get a sappy live-action love-fest between Danny and Sandy that establishes that Danny's act at school is just fake, shot like a high-saturated 1970s porno.
