Sam Jackson has met his demise onscreen in a variety of interesting ways, ranging from simple headshots to being blown away by force lightening. None of them match the shock value or sheer brutality of his surprise exit from Deep Blue Sea however, where in the middle of giving an inspiring “We can survive this!” speech he’s attacked by sneaky shark and pulled into the water.

After giving the characters (and the audience) a moment to gather their jaws from the floor we then see him being vigorously chewed upon under water, and the hungry shark is then joined by his equally starving buddy. They tussle over who gets the biggest piece before splitting the difference, and ripping him in half.

Jackson was by far the biggest actor in the movie at the time, so to see him check out so early – and in such a vicious way – sent the clear message that Deep Blue Sea wasn’t messing around.
