9 MCU Characters Most Unlike The Comics

9. Hawkeye

The stoic family man Clint Barton who keeps to himself in the MCU is a completely different character than the original purple-clad archer in the comics.

The MCU Hawkeye is much more similar to the Ultimate Comics version of the character who has a similar costume, close ties with S.H.I.E.L.D., and had a stable family life. However, those more familiar with the 50 year history of the original Hawkeye didn't expect the reveal in Avengers: Age Of Ultron that Hawkeye has a family. In fact, Black Widow's close friendship with Hawkeye in the first Avengers movie made many fans speculate that their early romance in the comics would play out in the MCU.

In the original comics, Hawkeye is a criminal-turned-hero who started out as a bit of a hothead and a hellraiser. He originally had little affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D., though he was married to S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Bobbi Morse, AKA Mockingbird, for many years (Morse is portrayed by Adrianne Palicki on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she has no romantic connection to Hawkeye in the MCU).

There are some similarities - he's been on several teams, but generally has served as a core member of The Avengers as a close friend of Captain America - but he definitely has no kids and no secret farm in Middle America.
