9 MCU Characters Most Unlike The Comics
8. Edwin Jarvis
J.A.R.V.I.S. was introduced in Iron Man as Tony Stark's artificial intelligence system that operates his armours and other works of genius. One of the highlights of J.A.R.V.I.S. in the MCU was his dry responses to Stark's sarcasm, all perfectly voiced by English actor Paul Bettany.
In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S. become the core system of The Vision, an android superhero who joins the Avengers at the end of the film. Unsurprisingly, Vision is also portrayed by Bettany. In the comics there is only Edwin Jarvis, a middle-aged English butler who is the caretaker of the Avengers Mansion, like if Alfred dusted the Justice League satellite instead of the Batcave.
Although Jarvis has gotten further involved in Avengers comic storylines in recent years, he has no special connection to The Vision, whose creation in the comics had no link to Tony Starks technology.
In 2015 Edwin Jarvis was introduced on Agent Carter as the butler of Howard Stark, portrayed by James D'Arcy. This version of Jarvis is much more in line with his comics version and is obviously Tony Stark's namesake for J.A.R.V.I.S. However, the MCU character was likely long dead before the Avengers ever formed.
