9 Mind-Meltingly Awesome Times Nine Inch Nails Improved Film Trailers

7. Man On Fire €“ The Mark Has Been Made

Man On Fire has a simple concept, but excellent execution to make it truly stand out. Denzel Washington as a depressed, alcoholic bodyguard trying to put his demons to rest and save a little girl €“ cutely played by a young Dakota Fanning €“ that he has failed to protect? And it's directed by Tony Scott? That's enough right there to get people interested, but not where the intrigue ends. The first half of the trailer emphasizes the friendship Denzel shares with Dakota, and how serving as her bodyguard has had a positive effect on his life. Naturally, this means that when a clip of her being kidnapped is sampled, it comes with some emotional weight. Shortly after this we see a string of clips showcasing Denzel in total bad ass action star mode, accompanied by none other than the broodingly instrumental piece "The Mark Has Been Made" by Nine Inch Nails. Christopher Walken also softly talks over the action and music to further build up Denzel's vengeful determination for revenge. The song enhances the intensity of the action so much, that director Tony Scott ended up using it - and 5 other Nine Inch Nails pieces - numerous times throughout the course of the finished film. Essentially, it's the theme of the film and the vibe certainly gives off the feel of well, a man on fire. http://youtu.be/6s_-O4HglGI
