9 Mind-Meltingly Awesome Times Nine Inch Nails Improved Film Trailers

6. 300: Rise Of An Empire €“ Eraser

The 300 franchise is built around testosterone-fueled, sprawling bloody Greek war battles, with body parts being dismembered and flying in every direction. They aren't exactly heavy on high-brow narrative, but their gratuitously violent nature result in them being an indulgent blast to watch. And while some may criticise Rise of an Empire's anachronistic trailer utilisation of various heavy metal tracks, it's actually a decision that simply works for a film in the cartoonishly violent vein of 300. The idea with these trailers is to fuel the audience with as much adrenaline as the heroic Spartans themselves, and since historical accuracy is clearly being thrown out the window anyway, one of the best ways to accomplish that is with hard-hitting, in-your-face metal that perfectly complements the action on-screen. The lyrics of "Eraser" may not directly be correlated with Greek warfare, but hearing Trent Reznor yell things like "smash me, kill me, erase me" adds to that adrenaline. It's a thunderous battle-cry. http://youtu.be/S9jAEgGetxg
