9 Moments Which Pissed Off Movie Fans In 2020

3. The Expensive Snyder Cut Is Finally Coming

The Joker Is Back
HBO Max

With Todd Phillip's character study of Arthur Fleck/Joker taking the world by storm towards the back-end of 2019, and Matt Reeves' The Batman thoroughly distancing itself from Ben Affleck's recent portrayal of Bruce Wayne in its most recent teasers, it seemed DC were finally finding something of an identity with their latest batch of superhero flicks.

Instead of desperately trying to throw together a movie universe to rival the MCU, they were now largely focusing on independent stories which would ultimately stand on their own two feet.

Sure, films like Wonder Woman 1984 and the upcoming Black Adam are still expected to build towards an overall DCEU, but they at least feel more refreshing, compelling and hopeful than the previous car-crashes which set the extend universe ball rolling.

However, the announcement of a "Snyder Cut" of an ill-fated Justice League flick finally actually being a thing, and coming to our screens via HBO Max next year, has left some fans wondering what Warner Bros. are thinking.

Admittedly, some portions of the fanbase are overjoyed at the idea of Snyder completely rejigging a lacklustre ensemble DC disaster. But, with a reported $70 million being spent on reshoots and additional visual effects, some can't help but feel like this attempt to polish a turd is simply a huge waste of money/time.

Phillip's aforementioned critical and financial solo Joker success was made for a similar amount of money, so why not spend that cash on a completely new idea? Instead of on a film which likely won't erase the past.
