9 Movie Deaths You Hear Off-Screen That You Probably Missed The First Time
4. Stormtroopers Killing Each Other - Return Of The Jedi
This is another fascinating one. During your first dozen-or-so viewings of Darth Vader's (Sebastian Shaw) iconic death scene in Return of the Jedi, you were probably so wrapped up in the drama and emotion of what was going on that you weren't paying attention to the sounds in the background.
Listen and you can hear blaster shots periodically rumbling not too far away, and because we know for a fact that no other rebels besides Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) were left on the base, we can surmise that this is actually Stormtroopers firing at each other.
Why would they be doing that? The only real explanation is that the remaining Stormtroopers trapped on the second Death Star are basically duking it out amongst themselves to reach the remaining escape pods - like rats in a barrel left to their own devices, destroying each other for the sake of self-preservation.
This is admittedly filed under "fan theory" given that it's never been canonically confirmed, but a lot of fans believe it, and it sure does fit.
