After years of fans balking at the idea, Sam Raimi worked with director Fede Alvarez on a reboot/remake of The Evil Dead that left fans scratching their heads a little thanks to an Easter Egg.

The question of whether it was actually a sequel was rather fitting, considering the fact that Evil Dead II's status as either a remake or a sequel has been under question since it came out too. As with that film, the answer to the 2013 conundrum is that it's a continuation of the first movie that is designed to mirror the events of that movie as a reflection of a cyclical curse. According to the director, anyway.

It's still at least a soft reboot though, even though the expected sequels haven't yet come, which makes the fact that Bruce Campbell's Ash turns up during the credits all the more wild.
