Though it opened ever-so-slightly below expectations, The Lego Batman Movie nevertheless grossed almost four-fold its $80 million budget worldwide, and you can bet it's shifted a ton of Blu-ray and merch since.

A sequel is totally a given in due course, and while Warner Bros. will surely want to get The Lego Ninjago Movie, The Lego Movie Sequel and The Billion Brick Race in the can first, there's certainly no harm in confirming yet another Lego movie sooner rather than later.

While it's possible that Warner Bros. will wait to see how the Ninjago spin-off performs to check that audiences aren't getting Lego fatigue, there's practically zero chance of a Lego Batman film flopping, so why not officially announce it with a post-credits scene in the Ninjago film? All the cool cinematic universes are doing it these days.
