9 Movie Sequels That Will Probably Be Announced Soon

7. Girls Trip 2

Malcolm D. Lee's ensemble comedy is one of the summer's most unexpected sleeper hits so far, opening to surprisingly strong reviews (holding an impressive 88% on the Tomatometer) and grossing more than $105 million worldwide to date.

Considering how eagerly the film follows the formula of popular comedy franchises like The Hangover, it's a natural fit for a similar treatment, especially given how little effort has to be put into the sequel's plot, and how easily the first film was propelled forward by the central personalities above all else.

It's honestly a surprise that Girls Trip 2 wasn't confirmed as soon as the original zoomed past box office projections in its first weekend, but unless someone's sleeping at Universal, this'll be confirmed within the next few months.
