3. Annabelle 3

2014's The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle was a ludicrous box office hit, scoring an insane $256.9 million worldwide against a mere $5 million price tag, which of course led to a follow-up quickly being announced, eventually turning into the recently-released prequel, Annabelle: Creation.

Though Creation won't pull quite the same box office coup as its predecessor, it's nevertheless already made its $15 million budget back five-fold in the space of mere days, which makes it exceptionally likely that a third film will be announced before long.

Whatever form it comes in, as another prequel or a sequel set closer to the present-day, there's clearly a lot of mileage left in this terrifying, haunted doll, and with James Wan doing such a generally good job of curating the out-of-nowhere Conjuring Universe, it's hard to feel that cynical about it.
