9 Movie Sets Recycled In Other Movies
5. Aliens Becomes Batman
For his 1986 Aliens, director James Cameron sought out a disused power station in order to try and create a set that could capture the claustrophobia of his follow-up to Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 movie.
In his search, Cameron and his team discovered Acton Lane Power Station in the Ealing borough of London. Having been closed and left derelict for three years by that point in time, work began to craft this disused power station into one of Aliens' most important sets.
Given the walkways that were already in place at the site, the Aliens team turned this haunting, vacant space into the place where the alien nest of the film would be located. Despite having spent a good chunk of change getting rid of asbestos from the site and then putting together the doom 'n' gloom set of Aliens' climax, the production didn't bother to remove or even dismantle the set after filming had concluded.
By the time of 1989's Batman, this Acton Lane site set was recycled and used for one of the key locations of the opening of Tim Burton's Michael Keaton-starrer. With the same walkways still in place, a quick lick of paint meant that the once-Aliens set was the perfect setting for Axis Chemicals - the place where Jack Nicholson's Jack Napier takes a tumble into a vat of acid.
