9 Movie Spoilers Hidden In Posters
4. Doubles Upon Doubles - Us
The marketing for Jordan Peele's Us left audiences wanting more, with the true scale of this story about a family being terrorised by their exact doubles kept mostly hidden.
Of course when we saw the final product, this home invasion framing proved to be just the beginning as the doppelgängers - known here as the 'Tethered' - make up the entirety of America. Everyone in the country has one, and they're all rising up at the same time.
A final twist, however, reveals that the mother of the family, Adelaide, isn't exactly who she says she is. In fact, she's been one of the Tethered the whole time, having swapped places with her double 'Red' when they were kids.
In hindsight then the main poster for Us hides this twist in plain sight.
The poster in question simply showed a crying Adelaide/Red taking off a smiling mask of her own face. This could symbolise that she was never who she said she was or, looking at it another way, could even be viewed as the double adopting the smiling face of the real Adelaide to mask the horrors that she's experienced as a Tethered.
