Ben Affleck first grew to public prominence when he and Matt Damon won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Good Will Hunting (in which they both also starred). But that was far from the start - his career had been slowly chugging along with minor roles throughout his childhood. Nothing really that major, but enough to give him the acting bug. One larger film role that almost sat there among turns in TV shows like The Voyage of the Mimi and Against The Grain is that of Les Anderson in the fun eighties comedy License To Drive. He auditioned for the part, but lost out to the much more established Corey Haim. Not too surprising when you consider this was another movie from beloved child star duo The Two Coreys (the other was Feldman). Not getting the role was far from disastrous for Affleck and gave him the time to slowly mature his multi-faceted talents.
