9 Movies From 2016 That Could Make A Billion Dollars
3. Suicide Squad
Estimated Box Office Gross: $1.1 Billion Jared Leto as the Joker. That's enough of a hook to sell an entire movie on, and in the case of the upcoming villain/anti-hero blockbuster Suicide Squad, it's the single aspect that pretty much guarantees DC's second flick of the year (after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice) as a billion dollar enterprise. Written and directed by David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch, Fury), it looks set to be a dark and gritty antidote to Marvel's lighter fare. Much of the attention (and the profits) are likely to come as a result of the Joker being a part of this movie; to suggest that it's the single reason why the movie will make so much money might seem unfair to everything (and everyone else) in the film, but it's sort of true: people are fascinated by the Joker - more so ever since Heath Ledger's masterpiece performance in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies - and will flock to see him come 2016 in their millions (Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn also looks incredibly intriguing, though). Will Smith will star too, but nobody seems all that fussed about that, really. Go figure.
