9 Movies To Watch After You See Jordan Peele's Us

8. Funny Games

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan Peele revealed that he gave the cast a list of movies to watch before filming. He hoped these films would help his cast understand the tone that he planned to take Us in. One of the films on that list was Funny Games.

Much like Us, Funny Games is an uber-violent home invasion thriller focusing on a family being challenged mentally and physically when some remorseless killers in donning matching attire - red jumpsuits for The Tethered in Us and all white golf clothes for Peter and Paul in Funny Games - step onto their doorstep.

In addition to sharing a similar genre and tone, Funny Games' presence is often felt in Us as the director took much visual inspiration from the film. Us directly visually references Funny Games and does so often. Both films feature our central killers break the father of the family's leg with a weapon. Speaking of weapon, both feature characters using a golf club as their weapon of choice.

If you want to see the film that helped shape Us as a psychological horror, Funny Games is worth checking out; either the original or the remake as both are directed by Michael Haneke.
