9 Movies With Way Too Many Plot Twists
2. Spectre
The second Christoph Waltz was cast in Spectre, people knew he was playing Blofeld. It was just that obvious, yet the producers tried to hide it anyway, and Waltz himself outright lied to protect the secret. It turns out this twist was used to hide another, more shocking reveal; that Blofeld is Bond’s foster brother.
Why they felt the need to add this we’ll never know, since it adds nothing to the mythology, and Bond himself doesn’t appear to give a crap anyway. This twist is also used to retroactively explain the events of the other Daniel Craig Bond movies, an explanation that creates new plot holes of its own and cheapens the events of those movies.
There are other twists involving Mr White having a daughter – an attractive blond, of course – and C being a villain, but given the casting of that role this also felt like an inevitability.
