9 Movies You Didn't Realise Are Set In The Same Universe
2. Scream & Clerks
Jay & Silent Bob showed up for a brief cameo in Scream 3, a slasher film which attempted to completely bury the line between clever satire and over-the-top lampooning. In it, the drug-fueled heirs to Cheech & Chong appear on a Hollywood backlot for the filming of Stab 3, the film-within-a-film based on the "real life" Ghostface murders.
Jay mistakes Gale Weathers for Connie Chung, prompting Courtney Cox's character to send a half-hearted middle finger his way.
Scream 3 was released in 2000, and it's no coincidence that 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back also found the boys traveling through Hollywood backlots as they searched for a movie being made about them. (Or rather their comic book counterparts, Bluntman and Chronic.)
Director Kevin Smith has confirmed that his most popular films are all connected within the same universe, which means not only are Jay and Silent Bob on the periphery of Ghostface's brutal killing spree, but so are the Quick Stop employees from Clerks, comic book creators Holden and Banky from Chasing Amy, and fallen angels Loki and Bartleby from Dogma. And also Alanis Morissette's version of God.
