It's no secret that director Andy Muschietti had to walk a fine line when it came to adapting Stephen King's classic horror novel It, keen to be faithful to the R-rated nature of the source material, while cutting some of the more challenging and objectionable elements (such as its infamous child orgy sequence).

But even so, Muschietti shot much more material than made the final cut for either of the two films, and has since opened up about the existence of three alternate cuts to what arrived in cinemas.

First off, there are Director's Cuts of both It films. It Chapter One would presumably include the much-discussed scene where Pennywise (Bill SkarsgÄrd) eats a baby, and the filmed scene where Maturin the Turtle communicates with Bill (Jaeden Lieberher), as well as all the deleted scenes featured on the home video release.

As for It Chapter Two? The already-hefty 169-minute film was in fact cut down from four hours, while Muschietti's planned third cut would combine the two films into a single viewing experience.

Given the commercial success of Muschietti's films, it's actually pretty likely we'll see Director's Cuts at some point in the future, though a four-or-five-hour supercut of both films is a much tougher sell.

However, it would give Muschietti the opportunity to restore some of Chapter Two's flashbacks to their original place in the first film's timeline and perhaps remedy some of those nagging pacing issues.
