9 Other Major Franchises Quentin Tarantino Was Linked To Before Star Trek

3. Luke Cage

Green Lantern Quentin Tarantino
Marvel Comics

Long before Marvel cast Mike Colter in the role on Netflix (indeed, long before Netflix even existed) Quentin Tarantino contemplated writing and directing a big screen take on the comic book hero for hire.

Speaking to Nerdist in 2015, Tarantino says he was considering making Luke Cage as his second movie after Reservoir Dogs. This would surely have made quite an impact on the comic book movie scene, given the only Marvel movies in existence at the time were Howard the Duck, Dolph Lundgren's The Punisher, and 1990's Captain America (widely forgotten, and quite rightly so).

While he obviously opted to make Pulp Fiction instead, Tarantino says he was considering Laurence Fishburne for Cage, but notes that his "comic geek friends" argued in favour of Wesley Snipes.

Either way, the film would have been set in the 1970s to line up with the original comics - and Tarantino has since said he wishes the Netflix series would have kept that original time period.
