9 Other Major Franchises Quentin Tarantino Was Linked To Before Star Trek

The current buzz around the potential Tarantino Star Trek directly recalls the wave of excitement that shuddered through online fandom in the mid-2000s, when the filmmaker was strongly rumoured to be in line to write and direct a new Friday the 13th movie.

Tarantino was hot again in the wake of Kill Bill; so too was Friday the 13th, thanks to Freddy Vs Jason. When plans for Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash (a direct sequel which would have brought Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead hero into the mix) failed to gain momentum, rights-holders New Line Cinema reached out to Tarantino, who had already expressed interest in making a horror movie.

However, while Tarantino confirms he did meet with New Line to discuss the project, he dismissed rumours of his attachment, and instead put his ideas for a horror movie into Death Proof, his half of Grindhouse.
