9 Outrageous Ways Famous Movie Characters Came Back From The Dead

9. Professor X Survives Being Disintegrated €“ X-Men: Day Of Future Past

Sir Patrick Stewart, the man who single-handedly made baldness cool, recently returned as Professor Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Which is confusing for a couple of reasons. He Was Dead...: In X-Men: The Last Stand Professor X tries, and profoundly fails, to keep Jean Grey€™s raising mutant powers under control. She winds up disintegrating him completely, leaving the rest of the X-Men without his guidance and wisdom for once.
...But He Got Better: Stewart returns to play Xavier in the post-apocalyptic future of Days Of Future Past. Quite how he€™s still alive the film never explains. In The Last Stand it was hinted that his psyche survived his body's destruction, and that he could take over the consciousness of a brain-dead body. But that still doesn€™t explain how his new body is shaped like Patrick Stewart. According to the writers of The Last Stand (though the movie itself doesn€™t reveal this), apparently Xavier had a comatose twin brother, and he simply transferred his mind to this handy back-up shell. As good an explanation as any, but it would have been nice if Days Of Future Past had taken a moment to explain this.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
