9 Possible Characters Willem Dafoe Will Play In Justice League

6. The Phantom Stranger

This could be just another flight of fantasy here - as it's quite possible The Phantom Stranger would be the most difficult character this side of The Question to accurately depict on the big screen - but let's face it, if any actor can pull it off, Willem Dafoe can.

Though it's unclear just how comfortable Zack Snyder would be putting an overt necromancer into the mix, The Phantom Stranger's powers and enigmatic personality seem to fit into the world he's created more than the typical Justice League member.

The character's origins are murky, which gives Snyder enough wiggle room to play around without upsetting the diehard fans. His powers are equally varied, seemingly gathering any random supernatural tricks the writers could dream up that day, from reality manipulation to teleportation to the ability to see ghosts.

Most importantly, though, The Stranger is a narrator. He introduces each "adventure" he's about to partake in with a Twilight Zone-esque prelude, before jumping right in.

There's no reason why he couldn't use that quality in the movies, handling some of the heftier exposition in not just this movie, but some of the standalone films as well. Basically, make him the Nick Fury of the DC Universe.

Dafoe certainly has the mysterious, unpredictable energy necessary to make the character sizzle.
