9 Post-Credits Scenes That Were Axed From Movies

6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

There was an absolute mountain of footage axed from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, including an entire character in the form of Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson. Some snipping was also done in the post-credits area, where an odd scene featuring a dismembered head was given the chop.

The movie includes a minor subplot about Norman Osborn succumbing to a horrible genetic disease, and the character dies early on. His son, Harry, eventually falls victim to an extreme version of this illness, which turns him into the Green Goblin. Harry is alive by the film's end and it's implied that he will be seen in a sequel, and oddly enough, there was originally a similar plan for the "deceased" Norman.

At one point in time, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 included a post-credits scene where a shady figure approached Norman's frozen head - which was being stored in a jar - and told him to "wake up". Pretty weird stuff, even by comic-book movie standards.

Was the plan to have Norman's head return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and wreak havoc on New York City? Who knows. Can't really do much without any limbs, though.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
