9 Post-Credits Scenes That Were Axed From Movies

Another MCU movie with multiple post-credits scenes, the first of Thor: Ragnarok's stingers sets up Avengers: Infinity War by teasing the arrival of Thanos, while the second is a fun throwaway gag involving Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster.

However, like with Iron Man, an alternate version of that second scene was actually shot, before being removed from the final cut.

Speaking to Collider in 2017, director Taika Waititi provided some details about this removed scene, revealing that it would've involved Grandmaster and Topaz (his right-hand-woman) stowing away on the Asgardian refugee ship:

"It was either going to be that [the theatrical post-credits scene] or it was going to be Topaz and Grandmaster stowing away on the ship at the end. That could be on the DVD in the deleted scenes, those two in the crowd of the Asgardians and he pushes through and goes, ‘I’ve never heard of this Earth place but… we got to keep a low profile.’ And they kind of put these blankets over their heads and disband into the crowd."

It's a crying shame that this was cut, because having Grandmaster on the ship means that Avengers: Infinity War could have opened with a scene where Jeff Goldblum talks smack to Thanos and the Black Order. We can dream.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
