7. Who Will Direct It?
David Yates, according to the man himself. The
Harry Potter director confirmed way back when, in 2011, that he had been approached to helm a feature-length adaptation of the Doctor's adventures which he claimed would start production "in five or six years". Well, that was 3 years ago, so there could still be some truth in his words yet. He managed to cause some controversy when he suggested that the movie would be a reboot of the franchise but he quickly backtracked after Steven Moffat publicly denied the claims and it's likely that David subsequently received an angry email from the BBC, too, since he hasn't uttered a word about it since. But who else could be in the running to take the Time Lord to the big screen? Not that David wouldn't excel, but it's always good to keep our options open. Peter Jackson would be the next obvious candidate, having also paid his directorial dues for his work on his Oscar winning
Lord of the Rings trilogy and recent
Hobbit movies. He's a self-confessed fan of the series, too, which is always a bonus, having admitted that he'd happily work on the show in exchange for a life-size Dalek. That'd save the BBC a bob or too, for sure.
