9 Really Pathetic Horror Movie Villains

5. Night Of The Lepus (1972)

Ijdijdj Shockingly bad, and an insult to the viewer's intelligence, Night of the Lepus features rabbits as the villains in this movie. Yes, humble, furry, vegetarian rabbits - they grow mutated and carnivorous, and terrorise a small Arizona town. The director William F Claxton achieved the special effects by putting rabbits into miniature sets. The rabbits look cute and not in the least carnivorous, in fact they look like domestic pets. You would have to suspend your disbelief for aeons to accept this nonsense. Yet another one of the 'so bad it's good' film brigade, Night of the Lepus was released on DVD in 2005 to the delight of cult cinema fans. The film probably had an environmental message of some importance to impart, but the site of bunnies hoping around small sets is so funny any pretensions to seriousness are flushed down the toilet. The acting is poor as is the script. It is all sheer stupid hokum which miserably fails to make rabbits scary but if you are in the mood for watching a really stupid movie, Night of the Lepus might tickle your sweet spot.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
