9 Really Pathetic Horror Movie Villains

1. Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977)

Njnj Its director apparently couldn't remember making it, however, it has a large cult following. The baddie in Death Bed is naturally a bed - a four poster bed - that is passed around very quickly due to it being possessed by a demon. The ridiculous story around this bed is that a demon in a tree turned into a gust of wind, brushed past a woman and fell in love with her. He assumed human form and made a bed. Whilst he and the woman were getting down to it, the woman died and the demon entered the bed - making it possessed and murderous and also 'blessed' with powers of telepathy and telekinesis. A homicidal bed is a silly film concept but director George Barry actually manages to pull off a zero budget film with considerable aplomb, a film which has charmed many trash addicts over the years. It is cheesy and highly surreal fare, often dreamy and arty. Nonetheless it is marred by bad acting and a really stupid premise. Killer beds do not believable horror films make, but as a piece of high camp trash - Death Bed succeeds on every level and will remain a popular piece of cinematic garbage for fans to discover and laugh their heads off.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
