9 Reasons Why Justice League Is Now Officially The Lowest-Grossing DCEU Film

5. Superman Confusion

Bruce Wayne Justice League
Warner Bros.

This may sound ridiculous but this is a real reason why some members of the general population skipped out on this film.

Savvy audiences (such as the ones reading sites like this) obviously knew that Superman would be coming back from the dead to join the Justice League. However, several portions of the general audience actually did not know that and genuinely thought there was a chance Superman wouldn't be coming back for this film, despite the pretty obvious giveaway of the dirt rising from the coffin at the end of BvS.

It certainly didn't help the matter that the Justice League marketing held back all of the Superman material until late in the game. And then, if those poor saps weren't confused enough already, the news of the reshoots hit the web and suddenly every online headline centered around Henry Cavil's mustache and how it would affect his role as Superman.

All of this to say, portions of the general audience just weren't quite sure what they were getting themselves into with this film thanks to a strangely timed BvS cliffhanger and the film's noncommital marketing.
