6. Wild Wild West's Spider Robot Was A Superman Idea

As Kevin Smith has always so colourfully stated, when he was brought in to write Superman Lives by hairdresser-turned-film producer, Jon Peters, the producer laid down some strange ideas on him. The most notable was his desire to see Superman do battle with a giant spider-like creature he called "Thanagarian Snare Beast."

He even had some concept art drawn up for it and still maintains it would have made an "amazing sequence"...

Ultimately, Kevin Smith's draft was rejected when Tim Burton was hired and no spider made it to screen - nor did any movie - but John Peters' idea didn't do away. The next summer, when Wild Wild West was released - which Peters produced - it featured a giant spider...

Clearly Peters really wanted to bang the spider drum in a big blockbuster movie.
